'My interest lies in exploring subjects that stimulate common memory and experience, senses of timelessness and constancy.'

'The more often I am able to exhibit my fine art work, I am fascinated by the response that it receives. I find inspiration from the birdlife and other animals, often those on beaches, which to me is a landscape least spoilt. These energetic, ever busy creatures are a pure and perfect vehicle to capture some elemental energy of living. I try to find a basic visual language that exist between people, place and animal. the spirit we have always shared rather than species or breed. '

Semi Vine has worked as an illustrator for many museums and organisations in Dorset since her first residency at the Waterfront Museum in Poole in 1990. Here, initially as part of a team of painters, and then as sole artist, she worked on large-scale murals, from design to production, and smaller illustrations.

Following a move to Weymouth, she has completed many private and public commissions, on a wide variety of subjects, from a lively, prehistoric underwater scene for the County Museum to a detailed ink drawing of a kestrel hovering over the Dorset downs for publication. As well as numerous private commissioners, her list of clients regularly has included Weymouth Museum, Winchester University College, Dorset County Museum, the Timewalk at Brewers Quay and the Dorset Countryside Service.

After expanding her studies in modern and post-modern fine art in recent years, an unending process, she has exhibited in solo and group shows, including Dorset Arts Weeks, been involved in community art projects, while continuing to accept selected commissions.
